Abstract
|
|
|
From the June 1985 to May 1990, twelve patients with soft tissue MFH of the extremities had been treated in Korea Cancer Hospital. The treatment principle was the combination of wide excision and adjuvant radiotherapy. The adjuvant chemotherapy
was
administered to only patients who could tolerate the chemotherapy toxicities. The Enneking's surgical staging was II(11 cases) and III (1 case). Males and females were involved more commonly (8 cases) than upper (4 cases). The types of surgery
were
limb
salvage procedures (10 cases) and amputations (2 cases) All of the patients received adjuvant radiotherapy (average: 51.5 Gy). In six patients. The adjuvant CYVADIC chemotherapy was administered (average: 4 cycles). There were 2 cases of local
recurrence. Distant metastasis to the lung was noted in 2 patients. With the average follow-up period of 41.3 months (12 to 72), the Kaplan-Meier's estimated 5-year survival rate was 87.5% and 5-year continuously disease free survival rate was
66.7%.
